“The Army has been good for our family”

SSG Arcenio Madrid is an instructor in the 8/104th  Quartermaster Instructor Group. His unit is based in New Mexico but he works classes in Camp Parks, CA and Camp Pickett near Fort Lee teaching 92Y (Unit Supply Specialist) Phase I and II for -10 level courses. Previously, he was an instructor for 25U (Signal Support Specialist) courses.

Prior to instructor, SSG Madrid first enlisted 31K (Combat Signaler) in 1990, which became the 25U MOS, serving in Desert Storm. He was in line units for 8 years and left military for five years. Following 9/11 he was motivated to re-enlisted “because our country was attacked” and became an instructor, first for Signal and then Quartermaster in 2010.
SSG Arcenio plans to stay with the 8/104th as the unit offers him good promotional opportunities. Crystal, his wife, is supportive noting that “the Army has been good for our family. The couple have two kids.
