Sgt. 1st Class Andrew Vaughn, a native of Kennewick, Washington enlisted into the U.S. Army on January 5, 1999. He attended Basic Training and AIT at Fort Benning, Georgia where he received the MOS of 11 B (Infantryman).

His previous assignment was with B Co 2nd1327th Infantry, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. His deployments include three rotations to JRTC and Kosovo.

Sgt. 1st Class Vaughn has held the following positions: Rifleman, Saw Gunner, Radio Telephone Operator (RTO), Team Leader and Squad Leader.

Sgt. 1st Class Vaughn has attended numerous Army Schools to include Air Assault School, Combat Communications Course, Battalion Drivers Academy, Primary Leadership and Development Course, Army Reserve Career Counselor Course, and Advanced Leader Course. SFC Vaughn is currently scheduled to attend the Senior Leader Course at the end of the year.

His awards include ARCOM, MM (4), GCM, NDSM, KCM, GWTSM, NCOPDR (2), ASR, NM, Expert Infantryman Badge, Air Assault Badge and Career Counselor Badge.

Sgt. 1st Class Vaughn is currently assigned to 7th Battalion, Army Reserve Career’s Division, Area 2 with the duty assignment at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, as a Career Counselor. On the civilian side, Sgt. 1st Class Vaughn has been a Security Police Officer (SPO) for the Department of Energy at the Hanford Nuclear Site in Richland, WA for the past 51/2 years.

In addition to his duties as a SPO and active drilling Reservist, Sgt. 1st Class Vaughn is a devoted husband to his wife and loving father to his two daughters.
