Sgt. 1st Class Lacy A. Kutz always tried to epitomize the saying “taking care of Soldiers.” In May 2008, she joined the 79V field and now “taking care of Soldiers” means something so much more. She is assigned to 8th Battalion, Army Reserves Careers Division (ARCD), Area 5. She entered ARCD in May 2008 as a Troop Program Unit Soldier. In May 2011, she began her first Active Guard Reserve tour in Milwaukee, WI. The units she supports are the 757th Transportation Battalion, 1152nd Railway Company, 3/399th Logistical Support Battalion, 484th Band, 826 Ordnance Co, and four Fire Fighting units.

Kutz entered the Army Reserve in December 2002 as a Paralegal Specialist. Shortly after her assignment to the 52151 Maintenance Battalion Headquarters, she re-classed to Motor Transportation Operator. She then deployed to Balad, Iraq with Joint Special Operations Command in support of 01F/OEF. Sgt. 1st Class Kutz performed as the transportation NCOIC, combat lifesaver, and as a liaison to the Air Force, taking on the role of a Transportation Management Coordinator. She performed in a Sgt. 1st Class position while holding the rank of Sergeant.

Sgt. 1st Class Kutz completed and made the Commandant’s List for Senior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Warrior Leaders Course and Retention Noncommissioned Officer Course. She also completed Master Resilience Trainer Course, Motor Transportation Operator Course, Unit Prevention Leadership Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Structure Self Development Level 3 and 4.

Her awards and decorations include the Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Driver Badge with the Driver and Mechanic clasp, Expert Badge with Rifle, and Career Counselor Badge.

Sgt. 1st Class Kutz has a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, with a double major in Communication and Journalism Mass Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is currently working on her master’s degree in Organizational Leadership.

Sgt. 1st Class Kutz enjoys CrossFit, volunteering with Girls on Run, and playing the guitar.
