I enlisted in the United States Military as a 36B, Financial Management Technician, working on Soldiers’ payroll, travel expenses, bonuses, and all other related special pay. Currently I am assigned to 4th ESC G1 Yellow Ribbon Program located in San Antonio, TX
My military medals include: Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserves Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M device, Texas Federal Service Medal, Non Article 5 NATO Medal, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon (3rd award), Texas Combat Service Ribbon, Army NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon.
I realized the Army is a big part of my life and have decided to continue my career with a unit closer to home. I love the camaraderie the military provides. I finished attending college, earning my BA in History. This provides additional promotion points and the option of my becoming an officer. I am looking forward to advancing my career as an officer and there are benefits in the Army Reserve that are not seen in the civilian sector. Being a Citizen Soldier means that I am doing my part for my country. I have answered the call for federal service, and continuing my duties as a civilian citizen as well.
I have deployed to Kosovo and what was most memorable was my first time outside the wire. I experienced a sense of fear for the first time in my life. It was a great learning experience. Also, gaining the experience of dealing with and communicating with people who live so far away, the new culture was a sight to see. So different, yet so similar at the same time.
I was born and raised in San Antonio, TX, where I graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School, 1 May 2000. I also attended St. Phillips College graduating with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts, along with a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas in San Antonio.
My hobbies include studying science and history and playing video games.
