"When I first enlisted my family was a little apprehensive about my choice but they've since seen the positive changes in me and support my decision to stay Army Reserve," said Specialist Kazimierczak.

Specialist Marcin Kazimierczak wasn’t ready for college upon high school graduation and always had a dream of joining the military.

“Since I was a kid I knew I wanted to be in the military,” he said. “I did delayed entry as a junior in high school and left for basic after graduation.”

Specialist Kazimierczak served as a Cavalry Scout (19D) on active duty for three years before joining the Pennsylvania National Guard. He deployed to Bosnia twice during since enlisting in 1996 then took a break in service to attend college.

In 2009, Specialist Kazimierczak enlisted in the Army Reserve to continue his military career.

“I wanted to do it right this time,” he said. “I wanted military training that would be translatable to the civilian side so I chose military intelligence. I love the camaraderie of the military and missed it while I was out.”

Specialist Kazimierczak’s awards include: ARCOM, AAM (oak leaf cluster), NATO Medal (2), Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (2), Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M device, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Ribbon.

Specialist Kazimierczakcompleted two Manchu Miles while stationed in Korea. The event is a 25 mile ruck march through the hills and rice paddies of Korea.
