I enlisted in the Army on 26 June 1986 as a 12N, because I wanted to give back and do something for my country. I have deployed to a combat zone three times. The first time was January – June 2003 during the initial push in Iraq. I deployed twice with the 101st Airborne Division from 2005-2006 and 2007-2008.
During my third deployment, which was my second deployment to Iraq, I was able to teach the local Iraqi people how we cabinets are built. This was educational for both me and the people who I worked with. These gentlemen learned from me and also taught me about their culture. We lost the contract with the local company that supplied the workers, which was a shame.
I have also mobilized to Honduras, Puerto Rico, Bosnia, Haiti and Korea.
I am married to Rena Tanguay, who is also the FRG Leader for the 338th Engineers. Rena and I married ten days prior to my 2007-2008 deployment to Iraq. Together we have four children: Matthew is 19 years-old, Megan is 17 years-old, Raymond is 16 years-old, and Rose-Marie is 14 years-old. Matthew, my 19 year-old son, is also a Soldier in the Army Reserve and we hold the same MOS in the same unit.
