He joined the Army in February of 1997 as a 75H10, Human Resource Specialist. Sgt. 1st Class Palmer received his initial and Advance Individual training at FT Jackson SC, graduating June 1997. He reported to Fort Sill, OK and assigned to the Personnel Support Battalion, where he served as a Records clerk, ID cards NCOIC and Transition Point NCOIC. In 2000 he was reassigned to Fort Stewart, GA with HHC 3/15 INF Battalion as a PAC NCOIC. In 2002 he was transferred to 8th PERSCOM, Seoul, Korea where he served as a Platoon Sergeant and Noncommissioned Officer in Charge for the Promotions Branch.
In 2004 he attended Drill Sergeant School at Fort Jackson, SC and served as a drill sergeant and senior drill sergeant at Fort Jackson with B Co, 2/39 INF. In 2005, Sgt. 1st Class Palmer was selected to serve at the United States Army Drill Sergeant School as a Drill Sergeant Leader and later Senior Drill Sergeant Leader.
In 2008, Sgt. 1st Class Palmer separated from the active army and later joined the United States Army Reserves. In April 2009, he attended Army Reserves Career Counselor School and currently serving as a Career Counselor for 5th Battalion, Army Reserve Careers Division, Area 3.
Sgt. 1st Class Palmer is married and resides in Orlando Florida with his two children.
