Region 1 Career Counselor of the Year

Sgt. 1st Class Darrell R. Paille is assigned to Region 1 Support Element, ARCD, Fort Devens, Massachusetts as a Career Counselor. He started in the Career Counseling field in 1995, as a Duty Appointed Retention Noncommissioned Officer (DARN) with a Combat Engineer Company.

He entered the Army in February 1989. Prior to assignment as an ARCC in May of 2006, he served as a Construction Platoon Sergeant with the 36th Engineer Company at Larry O. Poncin Reserve Center, Attleboro, Massachusetts. He completed a six month tour of duty in Kosovo in 2001 as a Construction Platoon Squad Leader. His latest tour was in 2003 for 14 months as a Construction Platoon Sergeant in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. 1st Class Paille has completed Basic Interior Electrician Course, Carpentry Masonry Course, Duty Appointed Retention Course, Retention and Transition Noncommissioned Officers Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course Phase 1, Construction Engineer Supervisors Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course Phase 2.

His awards included Army Commendation Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal and Career Counselor Badge.

Sgt. 1st Class Paille was a graduate of Taunton High School and attended Fisher College studying Business Management. His hobbies include mountain biking, motocross riding and camping with his family.


SFC Paille attributes his motivation to compete in this year’s board to a combined effort by his peers.

      Thanks – we will be posting once to twice a week at the least. In addition, as we get closer to the 2010 National Capitol Reenlistment Ceremony post will be made even more often as we share with you the stories of Army Soldiers who will be re-enlisting at this year’s ceremony. Soldiers are coming from all 50 states, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Europe, Korea and Washington DC.
