Region 11 Career Counselor of the Year

Sgt. 1st Class Geer was born in Ft. Huachuca, Arizona and graduated high school in Moreno Valley, CA. SFC Geer entered Active Duty in 1992. He graduated from Naval Basic Training (NTC) in San Diego, CA. Upon graduation he was assigned to Airman Apprenticeship School where he graduated in the top 5% of his class. He was then assigned to the USS Duluth (LPD-6) in San Diego, CA where he deployed twice to the Persian Gulf and Somalia for Operation Restore Hope and Continue Hope. Upon Completion of his active duty service December 1996 he received an honorable discharge and moved to Clarksville, TN to pursue a career with the USPS and further his education.

In April of 1997 he joined the United States Army and went to Basic Combat Training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. Upon graduation he attended 31U Signal Systems Support Specialist Course located at Ft. Gordon, GA. He attended Army Jump School at Ft. Benning, GA. Upon Graduation of Jump School November 1997 he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, NC. He was assigned to HHC 1/504th PIR and 82nd MP Co. SFC Geer conducted numerous Airborne Operations totaling 57 Static line jumps. He won 82nd Airborne Division Driver of the Quarter and he was Communications Team Chief. After 9/11 he enlisted into the Army Reserve where he was assigned as the Primary Weapons trainer for the 63rd Regional Readiness Command. He was mobilized for OEF/OIF for 2 years. In April 2007 he was accepted in the AGR program as a 79V (Career Counselor) where he won the 2009 CCOY of the year for Region 11.

SFC Geer awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal with 1 OLC, Army Achievement Medal with 1 OLC, Navy Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization Device (M), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait) & (Saudi), Meritorious Unit Commendation (Navy), Navy “E” Ribbon, Parachute Badge, Drivers Badge, Expert Marksmanship Badge (Rifle) and (Pistol) and Career Counselor Badge.

    What happened to your time as an 11B with the 82nd, how come it does not talk about that in here… as well it doesn’t mention anything about your CIB or even CAB for that matter…. whats up with that, who wrote this???
