Staff Sgt. Jason S. Dowdy has lived in New York for 21 years and currently lives in Anchorage, Alaska. He Entered the Army under the Delayed Entry Program on June 2001 and attended Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia on August 14, 2001 followed by Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, Georgia, graduating as Distinguished Honor Graduate. Staff Sgt. Dowdy has also served time as a Communications Team Member and Team Leader from 2001-2005. He attended reclassification training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas In July 2006, graduating as an X-ray Technician in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
He currently serves as a Section Sergeant in the 1984th United States Army Hospital detachment 1, Anchorage, Alaska.
Staff Sgt. Dowdy’s assignments include Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraqi; 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Red Cloud, South Korea; 1st Infantry Division, Kitzingen, Germany; and 4220th United States Army Hospital, Shoreham, NY
His awards and decoration include: the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal; Good Conduct Medal; Reserve Components Achievement Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Korean Defense Service Medal; NCO Professional Development Ribbon; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon; Army Meritorious Unit Commendation and Air Assault Badge.
Staff Sgt. Dowdy’s military and civilian education includes Primary leadership Development Course (Commandant’s List); Basic Noncommissioned Officer’s Course; Air Assault Course; Field Sanitation.
He is currently working towards his bachelor’s degree and attending Central Texas College. Staff Sgt. Dowdy and his wife have a son and daughter.
