Sgt. 1st Class David S. Catani is an Active Guard Reserve Officer, Warrant Officer Accessions Non-commissioned Officer Assigned to 1st Battalion, Army Reserve Careers Division at Fort Devens, MA. He has served as an Army Reserve Career Counselor, an Accessions Career Counselor, an Officer and Warrant Officer Accessions Non-Commissioned Officer since 2007.

Catani entered the Army Reserve in February 1996. Prior to his assignment as an Army Reserve Career Counselor in July 2007, he served as a Drill Sergeant and Senior Drill Sergeant with 1stBattalion, 304th Regiment, 98th Division (IT) from 1997 to 2007; 98th Division; Vermont Army National Guard as a welder and machinist.

Catani mobilized and deployed with the 98th Division’s Foreign Army Training Command (FATRAC) from November 2004 through September 2005; serving as a Combat Advisor embedded within the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade, 9th Iraqi Army Division.
Catani has completed the Primary Leadership Development Course; Drill Sergeant Course; Basic Non-commissioned Officer Course; Advanced Non-commissioned Officer Course; Combat Lifesaver Course Enhanced; Army Reserve Career Counselor Course, Accessions Career Counselor Course and the Security Manager Course.

His awards include: the Bronze Star Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Joint Service Achievement Medal; Army Achievement Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters); Army Good Conduct Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal, with “M” Device and Bronze Hour Glass; Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, 3 Oak Leaf Clusters; National Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal, with Bronze Star; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, with Numeral 3; Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon; Joint Meritorious Unit Award, 1 Oak Leaf Cluster; Combat Action Badge; Shoulder Sleeve Insignia Former Wartime Service; Drill Sergeant Identification Badge and Career Counselor Badge.

Catani was inducted into the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club in March of 2001. He was also named 1st Brigade, 98th Division Non-commissioned Officer of the Year and placed runner-up 98th Division Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year in 2001 and 1st Battalion, 98th Division Drill Sergeant of the Year in 2002.

He completed an Associate Degree in Science, Mechanical Engineering and Design in July 1994, Keene State College, Keene, NH and is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science, Business Administration Degree from Trident University International, Cypress, California.

Sgt. 1st Class Catani and his wife are the parents of five children and have one grandchild.
